Welcome to
www.sighthound-trophy.com.
The race event for sighthounds. In 2008 this event will be exclusive
for the Magyar Agar breed in Germany, Austria and Hungary. In
the following years we will try to extend this event also to the
other sighthound breeds. Check out the news for the mega
summer event in the city of Osagard.
THE OSAGARD SIGHTHOUND FESTIVAL
9th – 10th August 2008
Osagard is a small village in the Nograd county. It is situated 50
km from Budapest in the Cserhat mountains.
According to historians, the name of the village comes from the word
agar, which means sighthound and breeding of sighthounds. The coat
of arms of the village shows this historical background as well, as
there are two Magyar Agars represented on it. This breed is our
national "jewel" and a symbol of Hungary. The village, the Magyar
Agar Club and Élő Nemzeti Kincseink Alapítvány (the Hungarian
National Heritage Fund) are working together to organize the
festival and repeat it every year.
Our dream is to organise a big festival, where you can see a
historical market with craftsman and their manufactured products,
goulash, strapatchka, beer and amusement.
The festival will start with a short excursion to the history of the
area; there will be a historical costume (typical for original
breeders of the national breeds) show of noblemen accompanied by the
9 original Hungarian breeds.
The next point on the festival agenda is the Special CAC show of all
the Sighthound and related breeds (FCI Group 5), from north to south,
west to east - we expect a participation of 300 sighthounds.
Judges have been invited from Austria, Luxemburg and Poland.
During the whole event, a rich programme will be offered on the
central stage. Visitors will enjoy a performance of a wide range of
artists performing operetta, musical, opera, folk-songs, Latin and
folk dance and music, brass bands, dog in work show, exercises, and
of course the biggest show: the BIS.
Additional meetings and events, such as the second meeting of the
Oriental Sighthound Section and lure coursing, will close the day.
The whole programme will be finished late in the evening with a
concert and street ball.
On the following day, the second round of the conformance and
performance weekend will take place on the Isaszeg racing track (handled
by the Magyar Agar Club). Isaszeg is approximately 45 km from
Osagard.
The invitations (judges, registration) to the CAC and racing will be
sent separately.
